This course provides insights into federal funding using the US Economic Development Administration as an example.  The course provides you information to research to be eligible to apply for federal funding, how to craft a pre-application to determine if your project is competitive for a specific funding source, and requirements for your final application.  We also explain the application approval process, award requirements, and post-award reporting.

  • USEDA FUNDING OVERVIEW This lesson provides an overview of the US Economic Development Administration’s funding programs.
  • FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION PROCESS In this lesson, we provide you resources and tips to ensure your organization is properly registered for the required programs to submit a federal funding application.
  • PREPARING YOUR PROJECT ABSTRACT This lesson explains the basic information you need to incorporate into a brief pre-application, also known as a project abstract, to determine if your project is eligible and competitive for funding.
  • MEASURING IMPACT & DISTRESS The project abstract includes providing economic impact data and economic distress as defined by the federal grantmaking authority. This lesson will also provide resources for USEDA grant requirements.
  • ALIGNMENT WITH REGIONAL & FEDERAL PRIORITIES The project abstract includes an explanation on how your project aligns with regional economic priorities and investment priorities of the federal grantmaking organization and funding opportunities.   This lesson will also provide resources for you to complete this section.
  • FINALIZING YOUR APPLICATION Once your Economic Development Representative informs you that your project is eligible, you need to complete a final application to be as competitive as possible. This lesson discusses the major requirements and documentation that need to be fine-tuned for your final grant application.
  • ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION Each federal funding opportunity is different and each requires different supplemental documentation.  In this lesson, we explain the most common funding for USEDA and what is required.
  • AFTER SUBMIT: POST APPLICATION & REWARD This is the final lesson for our USEDA Grant & Federal Funding course where we explain the grant approval process, required award documents, and post-award reporting.
